This Code of Conduct applies to all staff, volunteers, board members, partners, and anyone representing Badicare Foundation.

Ethical Standards

Conflicts of Interest

We avoid situations where personal interests could conflict with our duties to Badicare Foundation.

  • Disclose any potential conflicts immediately
  • Do not use foundation resources for personal gain
  • Refrain from activities that compete with foundation interests
  • Report gifts or favors that could influence decisions

Financial Integrity

We manage funds with the highest level of responsibility and transparency.

  • Use donations only for intended purposes
  • Maintain accurate financial records
  • Follow all financial policies and procedures
  • Report any suspected financial irregularities

Confidentiality

We protect sensitive information about beneficiaries, donors, staff, and the organization.

  • Do not disclose confidential information without authorization
  • Store sensitive information securely
  • Obtain consent before sharing beneficiary stories or photos
  • Follow data protection laws and policies

Fair Treatment

We treat everyone fairly, without discrimination or favoritism.

  • Make decisions based on merit and need
  • Do not discriminate based on protected characteristics
  • Provide equal opportunities for participation
  • Address grievances fairly and promptly

Harassment, bullying, or intimidation
Discrimination of any kind
Sexual exploitation or abuse
Use of drugs or alcohol during work
Misuse of foundation resources
Retaliation against whistleblowers

Child and Vulnerable Adult Protection

We have zero tolerance for any form of abuse, exploitation, or harm against children and vulnerable adults.

  • Always obtain consent for photos and stories
  • Follow safe recruitment practices for staff and volunteers
  • Report any suspicions of abuse immediately
  • Maintain appropriate physical and emotional boundaries
  • Complete mandatory safeguarding training

Anti-Corruption and Bribery

We do not offer or accept bribes

Gift Policy

Report all gifts above $50 value

Transparency

Full disclosure of all transactions

Gift Acceptance Guidelines

  • Gifts must not influence decision-making
  • Modest gifts may be accepted with approval
  • All gifts must be documented
  • Cash gifts are generally prohibited
  • Consult management for questionable situations

Protection for Whistleblowers

Badicare Foundation prohibits retaliation against individuals who report concerns in good faith. We are committed to:

  • Keeping reports confidential to the extent possible
  • Investigating all reports promptly and thoroughly
  • Protecting reporters from retaliation
  • Providing feedback on investigation outcomes
  • Taking appropriate corrective action

Reports can be made anonymously. All reports will be taken seriously and investigated promptly.

Implementation & Training

Training

All staff and volunteers complete mandatory Code of Conduct training annually, including specialized safeguarding training.

Acknowledgment

All representatives must sign an acknowledgment form confirming they have read, understood, and agree to comply with this Code.

Annual Review

This Code is reviewed annually by the Board of Directors and updated as needed to reflect best practices and legal requirements.

Consequences of Violations

Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment or volunteer position. Serious violations may also result in legal action.
